How to make Easy toad-in-the-hole
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to gas 7, 220 degrees C, or 200 degrees C, fan.
Step 2: To make the batter: In a bowl, place the flour along with the eggs. Gradually stir in the milk, then beat until smooth.
Step 3: In an ovenproof baking dish, put the sausages. Over the sausages, scatter the sliced onion and drizzle with oil. Place in the preheated oven and roast for about 15 minutes.
Step 4: When done, take the dish out of the oven. Pour the batter over and around the sausages. Place the dish back in the oven and continue to cook for additional 35 minutes until the sausages are completely cooked and the batter is golden on top.
Step 5: For the gravy: Drizzle the oil in a frying pan or saucepan. Once the oil is hot, add the rest of the onion to the pan and fry for about 5 minutes until golden. Over the onion, sprinkle the flour and cook while stirring until thick. Now, add the mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Then, slowly add in the stock, stirring until smooth and you have reached your desired thickness.
Step 6: When done, serve the toad-in-the-hole with gravy. Enjoy!
