This recipe has always been a part of my family since I was a little kid. I remember my Grandma made this all the time! I was always excited to visit her because she made the best cakes! This German Chocolate Pie is just one of them! I am so grateful to her for a lot of things mostly recipes! Now, I get to share it with you as well! Feel free to modify this to your preference. Ingredients:
1 cup light corn syrup
3 large Eggs
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups chopped pecans
3/4 cup flaked coconut
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 prepared pie crust (9-inch deep-dish)
cool whip, if desired, for topping before serving
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
In a mixing bowl, add eggs, corn syrup, butter, vanilla, and sugar. Beat until well mixed.
Add the coconut and pecans, then stir until well mixed.
Add chocolate chips to the bottom of the pie crust and spread it evenly.
Pour the corn syrup on top of the chocolate chips and spread it evenly.
Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about an hour or until done.
Remove from the oven and allow it to cool completely at room temperature.
Serve with Cool Whip and enjoy!
Note:
Place any leftovers in an airtight container, then place them inside the fridge.
