This freaking delicious One-Pan Smothered Chicken is no doubt one of the simplest chicken recipes you can make. Juicy and tender chicken in a rich and creamy gravy with bacon, simply satisfying!

Ingredients

6 Slices Bacon, Diced

2 lbs Chicken Thighs, Bone-in and skin on

1 c. All-Purpose Flour

2 tsp Garlic Powder

2 tsp Onion Powder

1 tsp Paprika

1 tsp Salt

½ tsp Pepper

½ tsp Italian Seasoning

1 Stick Butter, Divided

3 ½ c. Chicken Broth

1 c. Milk

How to make One Pan Smothered Chicken

Step 1: In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium-high heat until completely cooked. To a paper towel-lined plate, transfer the cooked bacon and set aside.

Step 2: In the meantime, in a shallow bowl or dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Step 3: Using paper towels, pat the chicken thighs dry. And into the seasoned flour, dredge both sides of the chicken until completely coated, shaking any excess flour off. Then, set the mixture aside.

Step 4: To the same pan where the bacon was cook, add half of the butter and melt.

Step 5: Add the coated chicken to the skillet once the butter has melted and cook each side for about 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown.

Step 6: To a plate, transfer the cooked chicken and set aside.

Step 7: To the pan, add the rest of the butter and melt.

Step 8: Once the butter has melted, sprinkle a cup of the rest of the seasoned flour and whisk for about a minute until the butter and flour are incorporated.

Step 9: Slowly whisk in the chicken broth and milk until you have a smooth gravy.

Step 10: Add the cooked chicken and bacon back to the pan.

Step 11: Bring to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling, adjust the heat to low and simmer for approximately 20 minutes until the chicken is thoroughly cooked.
