INGREDIENTS
2 lb. ground beef 900 g
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 package dry onion soup mix
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups finely shredded cheese of your choice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 cups milk
3 large eggs
3/4 cup baking mix such as Bisquick or similar (120 g)
Sliced American Cheese optional
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease two pie plates.
In a skillet, brown the ground beef along with the onions until the meat is no longer pink. If there is excess grease, drain it from the pan.
Add the dry onion soup mix and 3/4 cup of water to the skillet. Let the mixture simmer until the liquid evaporates.
In a mixing bowl, gently whisk the eggs. Add salt, pepper, milk, and baking mix. Beat until the batter is well combined.
Divide ¼ of the meat mixture into the bottom of each prepared pie plate. Follow with ¼ of the shredded cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining meat mixture and shredded cheese.
Evenly pour half of the Bisquick mixture over the top of each pie.
If desired, place several slices of American cheese on the top.
Bake the pies for 25-30 minutes, or until the top turns a beautiful golden color.
