I always felt great awe for lava cakes. Desserts have a special place in my heart and I can name all of my favourites but today I want to talk about lava cakes.
It gets me excited just thinking about that rich, gooey, and overflowing fudge-y goodness. Lava cakes are such a decadent dessert. And make them in a slow cooker, you have yourself the most luscious fool-proof, drool-worthy dessert.
Ingredients
Cake:
1 box chocolate cake mix 15.25 ounces
1 box instant chocolate pudding 3.9 ounces
1 1/4 c. whole milk
1/2 c. vegetable oil
3 Eggs
2 c. chocolate chips 1 (12 ounces) bag
Optional Ingredients:
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
How to make Slow Cooker Chocolate Lava Cake
Step 1: Generously grease the inside of the slow cooker using non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, add the cake mix, pudding mix, 1 1/4 cup milk, oil, and eggs. Beat for a minute on low. At this point, you can add the sour cream for extra moisture.
Step 3: Adjust the speed to medium, mixing continuously for 2 to 3 minutes until the batter becomes smooth and glossy.
Step 4: In the prepared slow cooker, transfer the cake batter and spread the chocolate chips over. DO NOT STIR.
Step 5: Cover with the lid and set the slow cooker on low. Cook for 2 1/2 hours until the top of the cake is set.
