Made with simple ingredients, this old-fashioned recipe for Chocolate Cream Pie is super easy to make. Thick and creamy with a light and fluffy meringue on top. And the toasted meringue makes this pie so beautiful and inviting. This lovely pie is perfect for any occasion.
I’ve tried a lot of recipes in the past, but this foolproof recipe is perfect! Surely a no-fuss, the only trick is not to let the chocolate mixture burn. And try adding a bit of accent using shaved chocolate and add on top. Heaven!

1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa, unsweetened
3 large Egg yolks, beaten

How to make Chocolate Cream Pie
Step 1: In a saucepan, place the pie filling ingredients (sugar, flour, cocoa, egg yolks, milk, and butter). Stir and cook until the mixture has thickened and bubbly. Tip: Beat the egg yolks and milk in a saucepan first, add the dry ingredients along with butter, and continue to whisk until thick and bubbly.
Step 2: Once the mixture is thick and bubbly, remove it from the heat and pour it into a cooled pre-baked pie shell.
Step 3: To make the meringue: Whisk the egg whites until stiff. Add in the sugar a tbsp at a time beating every after each addition.
Step 4: Stir in the cream of tartar or baking powder and vanilla, if adding. Continue to beat the meringue until stiff.
Step 5: Add the meringue on top of the pie.
Step 6: Place inside the oven. Bake for about 5 to 8 minutes at 400 degrees or until lightly brown.
Step 7: When done, remove the pie from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.
