This Chicken and Dumplings dish has always been my comfort food! A big thanks to my Aunt for teaching me this recipe. Oh, man, you have got to give this one a try, I’m telling you! Feel free to tweak it to your liking. Have a great day, friends. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 chicken
1 small diced onion
1 stick butter
2 cups Bisquick
2 cups milk
1 can(s) cream of chicken soup
1 tablespoon chicken broth paste(or cube)
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Place a large pot with enough water to submerge the chicken on the stove and turn the heat to high. Allow the water to boil.
Add the whole chicken, onions, salt, and pepper. Cook until the chicken is soft.
Remove the chicken from the pot. Remove the bones and slice the chicken into small pieces. Reserve the broth for other dishes.
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
First Layer:
Add melted butter into a 9×12-inch baking dish.
Spread the chopped chicken into the baking dish on top of the butter.
Season with salt and pepper.
Second Layer:
In a mixing bowl, add the poultry seasoning, milk, and 2 cups of Bisquick. Stir until well mixed.
Pour the mixture over the chicken and spread it evenly.
Third Layer:
In a mixing bowl, add the broth cube and 2 cups of warm broth. Stir until well mixed.
Pour the mixture on top of the chicken and spread it evenly.
Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about an hour or until done.
Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes at room temperature.
Serve and enjoy!
