How to make Swiss Steak With Tomato Gravy

Step 1: In a heavy skillet, heat the oil and butter over medium to medium-high heat. In the meantime, slice the onion and mushrooms into quarters.

Step 2: Somewhat pound the steak cubes. A pound of cube steak should equal four portions of the beef. Also, you can slice the steaks to make four servings. Then, sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Step 3: Combine the flour, Panko, and seasoning. For this recipe, we use Bucks Multi-purpose seasoning instead of Season All seasoning.

Step 4: In the flour mixture, coat the cube steaks. Place the steaks in the hot oil and cook for about 3 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet when done and set aside for now.

Step 5: In the same skillet, add the onions and mushrooms. Saute for about 4 to 5 minutes until the onions are translucent. Stir in 2 tbsp of flour into the onions and mushrooms. Pour in the wine and scrape the bottom of the pan. Nest, pour in the water followed by the dry onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and 2 tbsp tomato paste. Then, add the cooked cubed steaks to the pan. Cover with the lid and cook for another 10 to 15 minutes until you reached your desired doneness.

Step 6: When done, serve immediately over rice or alongside mashed potatoes and your favourite vegetables.
